ZUZANA&NICHOLAS architects was established in 2013 by Zuzana Kovar and Nicholas Skepper after both had acquired significant experience at a number of notable small Brisbane based practices, including Owen and Vokes and Peters, and Phorm Architecture and Design. Both directors hold a PhD from the RMIT School of Architecture and Design, and both maintain an active research and exhibition practice. Zuzana also holds a lecturing appointment in architecture at Griffith University.
The practice has significant experience in residential projects of varying size, along with small to medium scaled commercial projects. In 2012, Bardon House was shortlisted in the Houses Magazine ‘New House of the Year over 200sqm Category’ (a project that pre-dated the formal commencement of the practice) and in 2013, the practice was one of six winning teams shortlisted for the 2nd stage of the Royal Adelaide Hospital Site
International Design Competition. The practice regularly participates in public lectures and has presented their work at the EmAGN lecture nights, Vokes & Peters Garden Variety events and for design studios at the University of Queensland. In 2014, the practice was invited to be the creative directors for SONA Super Studio.
In 2018 ZUZANA&NICHOLAS was named the emerging practice of the year at the Houses Magazine Awards, and was awarded a commendation for Monash Road House, in the Alterations and Additions under 200sq.m Category.
